Christian Michelsen Research (CMR) has significant expertise within instrumentation, monitoring and visual analysis tools for the oil industry, which are also relevant for safe storage of CO2. CMR has, together with UiB, been awarded a Centre for Research-based Innovation (CRI), The Michelsen Centre for Industrial Measurement Science and Technology. CMR is also a co-facilitator and active partner in the NCE Subsea.
Institute for Energy Technology (IFE) has more than 25 years of experience within reservoir and exploration technology, including: 1) analytical experience in inorganic and organic geochemistry and tracer technology for interpretation of reservoir quality and communication; 2) experimental development of tracers; and 3) software development and application. In recent years facilities for CO2-H2S-H2O-rock experiments have been established.
Norwegian Institute for Water Research (NIVA) performs environmental research and monitoring related to water quality. NIVA has a record of engagement in international CO2 sequestration projects; NIVA is a partner of the EU-FP6 NoE CO2GEONET, and is the sole Norwegian representative in the steering committee of the newly established European CO2geoNet Association.
Norwegian Geotechnical Institute (NGI) has considerable expertise within petroleum geophysics and geomechanics. The combination of experimental and theoretical work related to rock and soil behaviour under static and dynamic loading has provided reliable answers and innovative solutions to the oil and gas industry.
Uni Research have ample expertise in reservoir technology and Improved Oil Recovery (IOR), ocean acidification, the marine carbon cycle and the marine environment, and environmental and biological monitoring.
University of Bergen (UiB) will be a core educational partner. Department of Mathematics, Department of Geosciences and Department of Physics and Technology have broad knowledge in numerical modeling, petroleum geology, marine and quaternary geology and and thermodynamic modeling. UiB also hosts three Centres of Excellence, the Bjerknes Centre for Climate Research, Centre for Integrated Petroleum Research (CIPR) and the new Geobiology Centre.
University of Oslo (UiO) will be a core educational partner. Department of Geosciences, covers a wide spectre of disciplines in geophysics and geology and is equipped with a range of laboratory facilities. Department of Mathematics has research groups in stochastic analysis. Physics of Geological Processes (PGP) is a cross-disciplinary physics-geology Center of Excellence hosted by UiO.
University Centre in Svalbard (UNIS) is located in Longyearbyen, Spitsbergen at 78°N. UNIS offers research and courses at the undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate level in Arctic Biology, Arctic Geology, Arctic Geophysics and Arctic Technology.
