CCS experiment shows minimal environmental impact of CO2 leakage (27.10.14)

CCS experiment shows minimal environmental impact of CO2 leakage An international team of scientists have published their results from the first ever experiment monitoring the environmental impact of a CO2 leakage relevant to CO2 Capture and Storage (CCS) in sub-seabed storage reservoirs. The project’s findings are encouraging, showing minimal chemical and biological changes with quick recovery rates, as a result of the simulated CO2 leakage. The scientific advances from the project will be transferred directly into knowledge suitable for policy, management, and education associated with CCS, thus entailing a significant step forward for the global CCS community.
